Convergence

Video installation Convergence (2006) completely filled a 17'x21'x10' space. Two projectors at opposite corners of the gallery projected scrolling text onto a spiral formation of translucent fabric, hung from ceiling to floor. The ornate text read: "I only wanted to bring you together here that you may touch one another." Viewers were encouraged by the formation to walk through the spiral, becoming part of the work. It was my intention to caress people, and I wanted them to consider their own levels of comfort or discomfort under these conditions. Responses ranged from feeling like one was inside a waterfall to being “inside a bottle of Guinness.”

The second image above shows a visitor within the piece.
