This video documents the experience of walking through the installation, Swathed. This textural video installation is intended to create the sensation of being inside a sonogram. Viewers walk through a zigzag formation of translucent fabric in a long, narrow space. I explore what it might be like to be inside the womb. I used the title Swathed in reference to the feeling I hoped to create in the viewer – like being bathed in light and caressed by the fabric. I am also motivated by the desire to touch others and so create these works as surrogates.
