Crush (2005) filled an entire 17’ x 21’ x 10' gallery and consisted of dozens of clear plastic sheets hung 6” apart, running from ceiling to floor. Minimal light played off of the crinkled sheets, creating an effect of disorientation. Visitors could not avoid making sounds as they moved through the space. A performer sat in the back, where visitors were beckoned by light and activity. The performer conveyed personal messages on a long scroll of paper. The intended effect was one of surmounting barriers to uncover thoughts and feelings and was about the struggle to connect with other people.
